WHY WHITE FILLINGS?
When you have a white filling only a small amount of your tooth is actually removed before the white filling is applied to it. This means that there is less chance of the tooth chipping or fracturing.
Unlike silver amalgam fillings, white fillings chemically bond to your tooth structure, giving it additional support. White fillings are also kinder to the soft tissue in your gums than silver or gold amalgams. We don’t generally advise that you should replace your old silver fillings for cosmetic reasons. If they need replacing however, white fillings are a popular choice.
